Fiat 500XL Likely for Frankfurt Debut in September

It will stretch the 500L to fit seven passengers

The 500XL will have 200mm added to the rear to have room for the third row of seats

is hinting that the stretched, seven-passenger 500XL will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

until the C-pillar where the car will be stretched by about 200mm to fit the extra row of seats. It will also have larger windows in the rear so that the new third-row passengers can see out of the car. The third row of two seats will be able to fold into the floor when not in use.

The engines are expected to carry over directly from the 500L with a 105hp TwinAir, 95hp 1.4-liter petrol engine, 1.3-liter 85hp diesel and 1.6-liter 105hp diesel.

Sales of the 500XL are expected to begin before the end of the year.

Fiat is also planning a 500X crossover for 2014 that will use the same platform as the 500XL.
