Ford Certifies First Dealers to Sell Focus Electric

Ford has certified the first 67 dealers in the US that will sell the Focus Electric that will go on sale later this spring. Ford is rolling the car out in phases across the US starting in California, New York and New Jersey in the spring. 

All of the first 67 dealers are in California, New York and New Jersey because that is where the brand is launching first, and those are the places with the highest demand for electric vehicles. 

Certified dealers must have at least two charging sites at the dealer. At least one charging station must be in the consumer area and the other must be in the service area. The dealer must have participated in Ford's electric vehicle training program. It also must keep at least one Focus Electric available for demonstration at all times.

The Focus Electric has been certified by the EPA at 110mpge in the city and 105mpge combined, which is 6mpge better than the Nissan LeafLEAFNissan LEAFJapan, 2009 > present4 photos
. The Focus Electric has a large, on-board charger that allows it to be fully charged in four hours on a 240v outlet. 

The Focus Electric is powered by a 143hp and 184lb-ft of torque with a top speed of 84mph. It has a 23kWh Li-ion battery that is liquid cooled and heated. It is front-wheel drive with a a single-speed automatic transmission. 

It has a base price of $39,200 however the federal government offers a $7,500 tax credit and the individual states will have their own tax credits as well.
