Ford Creates Documentary Series for Green Entrepreneurs

The series says that we are in the middle of a second industrial revolution

Ford has worked with SHFT, a cultural curation site founded by Ford, AOL, Virgin America and W Hotels, to create 10 short documentaries examining entrepreneurs of green companies. Ford will be showing the films at the Green Festival, which is touring major cities in the US and awarding a $50,000 grant in each city. Ford and SHFT will post the short films to Youtube as well.

The project is called "The Big SHFT: 10 Innovators Changing Our World,” and each looks at a sustainable business around the world. The businessesinclude those focused on fashion, food and urbanization.

“Sustainability is the biggest issue facing business in the 21st century, and the problem will not be solved by one person or group. How we answer the challenge of the future of mobility will have a lasting impact on generations to come. By partnering with organizations like SHFT, we are able to inspire people to make smart decisions about the products they choose today,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company.

SHFT has released the first documentary online. They look at Tom Szaky, CEO of Terracycle, which has been developing plastics made from garbage, and the second film released will be about Michael Crooke, former CEO of Patagonia and a professor at Pepperdine University, who established the first university-led environmental certification program.

The film about Terracycle and a trailer for the whole series can be viewed below.
