Among the drivers for the cars will be ex-Formula 1 driver and five-time DTM champion Bernd Schneider for the Preci-Spark Team in the ProAm category. The other two drivers will be brothers David and Godfrey Jones.
“We are very pleased about Bernd Schneider’s supporting the team Preci-Spark in the classic 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, above all, because David and Godfrey Jones were the first customers who received a SLS AMG GT3. We wish them lots of success in the Ardennes," said Ola Källenius, managing director of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
Rafael Vanthoor, Anthony Kumpen, Koen Wauters and Dennis Retera will drive the KRK Racing team car from Belgium.
The Black Falcon team is entering two cars. One car is driven by Jeroen Bleekemolen, Bret Curtis and Steve Jans and Congfu Cheng. Oliver Morley, Manuel Metzger, Stephan Rösler and Kenneth Heyer will drive the other car. The team finished third in the race last year.
The 24 hour course is 7.0km long running through the Ardennes Forest with significant elevation changes. The race was first held in 1924 when the course was still 14.8km long and ran between the towns of Spa and Francorchamps.
The race is scored in a unique way. Instead of a winner take all race, points are paid out based on the positions at six, twelve and 24 hours.
