Front swivel seat presented by Renault

Renault has become the first European brand to incorporate a front passenger swivel seat technology in its catalogue. The feature will be offered in the new Clio and is part of the French automaker Mobility for All campaign. This technology was conceived to make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the car.

The new seat has been developed by Renault Tech is based on simple, easy-to-use technology which comprises a swiveling base located beneath the original seat. With the seat turning 75 degrees just by pushing a lever also underneath the seat, it can also be used as a common armchair when turned towards the exterior.

No changes in the car's structure, styling, comfort or safety had to be made in the Clio’s cabin to include the new optional seat. To increase its practicability the new seat comes with a footrest, which can be lifted and folded away into the seat's base so that it doesn’t importunate the passenger. The swivel seat looks identical to the driver's seat, with full fore/aft and seatback adjustability.

So that it can be marketed the swivel seat is subjected to the same validation/crash test processes as conventional seats and complies with Renault's exacting quality standards.

The new swivel seat will be available from next June in six western European markets and from April 7 as an option for Clio in France.
