In Germany we reach the middle of the season, and what a season it has been. Maybe in terms of championship discussion it might not be what we all expected, but races have become more interesting and exciting this year.
Vettel now comes to drive in front of his home crowd. He is comfortably leading the championship by 80 points and with Red Bull being able to use once again the diffuser, after a missed attempt of taking them away, should be at its best at Nürburgring.
Until now no one has been able to harm Vettel’s complete dominance. The German has won six out of nine races and in the other three he was the runner-up. As for the others no one has repeated wins this season, with Hamilton, Button and Alonso all claiming one victory.
Things have been going worse for Webber that still hasn’t managed to take a victory this year. This is aggravated by the dominance of his team-mate. They both share the same car, but only Vettel has made it to the wins. Still, the Aussie lies in second place in the championship and seems to be the only one that might threaten Vettel at the top.
Webber will be coming after the poor incident in Silverstone where the Aussie ignored team orders for him to back off and stop attacking Vettel’s position. Many rumors have gone by since that situation and team relations with him might not be going through the best of phases.
For this year the German Grand Prix returns to Nürburgring as it alternates between this circuit and Hockenheim. Webber was the last one to win here and it was the day the Aussie won his first ever F1 victory. Wouldn’t it be nice to see him bounce back here?
This weekend Ferrari should be the team in best position to bother the Red Bulls. The Scuderia has been improving every single race, and in the last one they got their first victory of the season. They should stay ahead of the McLarens that have struggled in the last GPs.
As for Mercedes, we continue to hear every single race that they will be improving, but the truth is, we haven’t seen much of them throughout the whole season. Can it be this time around? Well Schumacher will be racing in a circuit that has two turns named after him – the Schumacher S in turns 8 and 9. Can this give the seven-time world champion an extra boost?
Certainly we will have a huge amount of German fans pushing for both Vettel and Schumacher, but above all for a good race, which everyone expects from the Ring.
And if you think you know who might be the winner of the German Grand Prix you definitely have to participate on Autoviva’s F1 Competition. It’s simple, just go here and cast your prediction by leaving a comment.
