is apparantly undeterred about the impending sale of the Nürburgring. It is building a €5.5 million update to its test faciliity that will allow it to have a full-time testing presence at the Nürburgring and test more vehicles there. The construction is slated to be finished in August 2013.
The new test center will cover four floors and 3,622 square meters (40,000 square feet) and include work shops, office space and a VIP area for guests. Its design has the front covered in panes of glass, while the rear is set into a hillside.
The center will support Hyundai's development center in Rüsselsheim, Germany, which does most of the company's European powertrain development.
The Nürburgring is the ultimate location to test vehicle durability, and we’re able to apply what we learn there to all of our vehicle development projects.
“Our new facility will increase our testing capacity, bringing direct benefits to our customers in terms of vehicle quality and performance," said Allan Rushforth, Cheif Operating Officer of Hyundai Europe.
