Infiniti Releases Video Racing Porsche, Touts Fastest Hybrid Record

Infiniti has released a commercial touting the M35h's Guinness Record of having the fastest full hybrid sedan. We reported back in September that the Infiniti M35h took the record. The M35h set a 13.9 second quarter mile time and accelerates to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds.

The video shows a M35h racing against a Porsche Panamera S Hybrid.

The M Hybrid has 360hp compared to the Porsche's 375hp, but the Porsche accelerates to 100km/h slower taking six seconds.

The video itself is not too impressive. For a video that tries to show off the M35h's speed, it makes both cars appear quite slow because of the way the video is shot and edited.

I have aproblem to understand the concept of 'fastest Hybrid'. People usually by Hybrid to save on gas (and/or save the planet), and now we see 'Performance Hybrid', V12 Hybrid, etc...

That's what Lexus wants to show...that hybrid cars don't have to be dull like the Prius. People can get good amounts of performance adding to it a smaller environmental footprint.

The footprint would still be big... If they would think like Colin Chapman, 'Light is Right', then the footprint would be even more reduced, and fun would still be had.
