Lamborghini reveals the Aventador LP700-4 chassis

Lamborghini reveals the Aventador LP700-4 chassis

Lamborghini continues to tease the automotive world with yet another picture of the new Aventador, or more precisely, it’s rolling chassis.  A week before its official reveal at the Geneva Motor Show, our friends at Sant’Agata gave the world an inside look, literally, at the Murcielago’s replacement as well as Lamborghini engineeering & manufacturing prowess.

Getting a look inside the factory as a new model rolls down the line is unheard of, but Lamborghini has done just that. They’ve released four official photographs of the suspension, bare monocoque, mounted engine and transmission and a complete rolling chassis minus doors and body panels.

It’s the first unobstructed view of the new 6.5-liter V12 we’ve had. The new engine makes a reported 700 hp (515 kW) and 470 lb/ft (690 Nm) of torque. That’s enough thrust to propel the LP-700-4 from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph (349 kph). The suspension components look to be made of aluminum, possibly forged. The new carbon fiber monocoque is reported to weigh a feathery 229 Kg (500 lbs.), which should help give the Aventador an astonishing power to weight ratio.

There have been a few unofficial leaked photos of the LP 700-4 floating around the Internet, including what’s been described as an up coming Croatian edition EVO magazine cover.  If blurry photos are any indication of what’s to come, we can’t wait until next week for the official unveiling.
