Lamborghini has prepared for this year's Frankfurt Motor Show the launch of the Spyder version of the
Huracán. The model is the successor of the
Gallardo Spyder and according to the brand it is 40% stiffer than its predecessor. The Huracán LP610-4 Spyder will be on sale from spring 2016.
At the heart of the new
Huracán LP610-4 Spyder is the same 5.2-liter V10 engine from the
coupé version, keeping the same 618hp and 560Nm of torque. In terms of performance Lamborghini reveals that although the Spyder's weight has increased to 1542kg, the vehicle can reach 100km/h in 3.4 seconds just 0.2 seconds slower than the coupé version. Top speed reaches 324km/h.
One of the new features when it comes to the Spyder's engine is the introduction of "cylinder on demand" technology, which varies the number of cylinders used depending on the needs, and also a stop-start system. These technologies will also be introduced in other versions of the Huracán range and thanks to them the LP610-4 Spyder Huracán produces 14% less CO2 emissions than the Gallardo Spyder. The all-drive system and the double-clutch gearbox have also been updated.
The Spyder also has a fabric roof that can be opened in less than 17 seconds at speeds below 50km/h. With the roof closed, Lamborghini claims the Spyder is virtually as quiet as the coupé version.
In terms of design differences, comparing to the Huracán Coupé, the Spyder receives new buttresses behind the seats and vents behind the rear wheels. According to Lamborgini, the Huracán LP610-4 Spyder is designed to have a different silhouette coupé, even with the roof closed.
The interior of the new Huracán LP610-4 Spyder is identical to the coupé model but includes a rear glass than can be left up in order to reduce the effects of the air flow.
