Driving Experience Center at Silverstone Circuit as the brand ambassador. The center aims to train young drivers to be safer before they get their licenses.
“It’s great that the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy is giving young people the opportunity to start learning to drive. By having the chance to master basic driving skills in the safe and controlled environment of the road layout at the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy, young people can gain confidence and focus on controlling the car before they have to deal with traffic situations out on the public roads," said Hamilton.
The center at Silverstone will teach young drivers to read the road, including junctions and road signs. In cars equipped with dual controls, instructors will also teach young drivers car control. The curriculum was developed by Mercedes with research from Sweden where it was found, the younger a driver starts practicing, the safer they are on the road.
The Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone is the second center that Mercedes has set up in England. The first is in Surrey that has taught 6000 young people since it was launched. The driving test passing rate among students who studied at the center is 78%, which beats the 46% national average.
The one hour driving experience class costs £80. For drivers younger than 17 wanting more instruction, they can opt for a six hour session for £370. They also a class specifically tuned for the driving test that is six hours long for £220 or twelve hours long for £395. There is also a one hour winter driving class for £99.
