Mercedes AMG Shows on New F1 Engine in Simulated Lap of Monza

is letting us hear the engine for the first time in a new video.

The video has the engine hooked up to a dynamometer and doing a simulated lap of Monza. There had been worries from some people that the new engines would not sound as good as the current V8s, but if Mercedes' engine is any indication, then there should be no worries. The engines still sound great but may lack a little of the bass of the current engines. A group of 20 of these cars should be quite the symphony of burning hydrocarbons.

The new engines have a rev limit of 15,000rpm and a single turbo with a rev limit of 125,000rpm. The engines are also equipped with a KERS system that can produce 120kW (160hp), twice as much as the current systems.

Now, we are just waiting to see what the 2014 cars will look like.
