that only competed in one race. Not only will the Mercedes be on track, but they will be there with five pre-war Auto Unions. 

The W125 ran with a supercharged, 5.6l inline-8 engine with 600hp. However, the engine was tuned up to 637hp but was never run that way in racing. The supercharged engine was only used for the 1937 season because the rules were changed to limit displacement to 3.0 liters in 1938 resulting in the W25. The W125 won three of the five points paying grand prixs at the Nürburgring, Bremgarten and Livorno giving it and Caracciola the championship. The car also won at Tripoli and Masaryk, but these races paid no points. 

A re-bodied version of the W125 with a 736hp V12 hit 432.692 km/h over one kilometer with a rolling start and 432.360 km/h over one mile on the recently opened Frankfurt–Darmstadt Autobahn. Mercedes will bring the standard grand prix-bodied car to Goodwood.
