The news come from Gordon Wagener, Mercedes' design chief, his team has been sketching a compact station wagon with front-end styling from the CLA-ClassCLA-Class Gen.1Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Gen.1Germany, 2013 > present63 versions

“The CLA is a four-door coupe as well, so why not do it," asked Wagener.

Mercedes has not released any sketches of the car, but Wagener indicates that the look follows the styling changes between the CLS and CLS Shooting Brake. That means that Mercedes would add a swooping roof to the CLA to increase cargo space slightly.

Wagener also said that he has no plans to create an A-Class-based two-seat sports car. He says that the company does not need another two-place convertible and that the market for those cars is in decline.
