agreed to co-develop a fuel cell powertrain together earlier this week. 

The problem with hydrogen fuel cells is still price and infrastructure. The systems are very expensive, and there is no where to get the hydrogen fuel. Mercedes says that it could sell the hydrogen B-Class, but it would be prohibitively expensive. 

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will not be available on the market until at least 2017 but without an infrastructure, it could be even longer. 

Instead of a fuel cell, Mercedes plans to introduce an electrically-powered version of the B-Class.
