The Geneva Motor Show will be the stage chosen by MINI to debut its range of new sporty diesel models that will be labeled SD. Available in Cooper, Cooper Convertible, Clubman and Countryman, these new variants will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that is able to produce maximum power of 143 hp and 305 Nm of torque, becoming the powerful diesel MINI
The engine that will be featuring in the SD range has the same basic architecture as the 1.6-liter units that can be found under the bonnet of the MINI One D and the MINI Cooper D.
Thanks to the new engine the MINI Cooper SD will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and to reach a top speed of 215 km/h. In the EU test cycle it will feature an average fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100km which represents CO2 emissions og 114g/km.
The MINI Cooper SD Clubman will reach the same top speed of the Cooper SD, while being able to reach 100km/h in 8.6 seconds. With a fuel consumption average of 4.4 litres per 100 km, the Cooper SD Clubman will produce 115g/km of CO2.
The Convertible variant of the Cooper SD will be able to reach the 100km/h mark in 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. With 118g/km of CO2 emissions the Cooper SD Convertible will have an average fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km.
Finally the most recent MINI family member will also be receiving an SD label on both the front-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive versions. Boosting from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and in 9.4 seconds respectively, the MINI Cooper SD Countryman and the Cooper SD Countryman ALL4 will reach maximum speeds of 198 and 195 km/h. The front-wheel drive version will be the more efficient of the two, with an average fuel consumption of 4.6 litres per 100 km. The ALL4 version has a previewed average consumption of 4.9 litres per 100 km. In terms of CO2 emissions these versions will produce 122 and 130 grams per kilometre respectively.
As it happens with the MINI Cooper S, the MINI Cooper SD will feature some specific design cues that will identify it. In this case it will display its identity in its side indicator surrounds and feature twin tailpipes positioned in the centre of the rear apron. The MINI Cooper SD, MINI Cooper SD Clubman and MINI Cooper SD Countryman will also be fitted with a roof spoiler.
