Chevrolet has presented its fourth and final model to have its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show, starting in just two weeks. The American brand had already presented three of the four models starring at Paris. The Captiva with its new front end design, a range of enhancements to the interior and new engines and transmissions, completes the list of world premieres from Chevrolet at the French capital.
The revised full-blooded sports SUV has suffered a lot of changes. At the front they include a re-shaped and sculptured hood, a new larger grille with its dual-opening and the Chevrolet 'bow-tie' sited proudly in the middle, and the prism style headlamps and integrated LED turn signals on the outside rearview mirrors.
From the side the air-vents have received a more angular shape to emphasize the new Captiva's sporting intent, while from the A pillars back the Captiva retains its profile.
Although it gets a new sportier look the new Captiva doesn’t loose the advantages of its adaptable, theatre-style seating in three rows which is able to accommodate up to seven passengers.
In terms of engines the new Captiva also come with some novelties. Under its new hood the SUV will be powered by four new engines that will be matted standard with a new manual or automatic six-speed transmission. The new engine lineup consists of two petrol engines (2.4-litre and 3.0-litre) and two turbo-diesel variants (2.2-litre).
Thanks to the new 3.0 liter 258 hp V6 gasoline engine with direct injection and variable valve timing, the new Captiva will become one of the most powerful compact SUVs on the market. The 2.2 diesel powertrain will be offered with power outputs of 163 or 184 hp. Finally the 2.4 liter dual overhead cam gasoline unit with variable valve timing will have an output of 171 hp.
The new Captiva should be launched in Europe on spring 2011.
