Set to go on sale in January 2010 the new E-Class Cabriolet is the latest add to the successful Mercedes-Benz class. The open-top two-door model presents a pure cabriolet style, thanks to the classic fabric soft top that it comes equipped with.
The new E-Class was created to be driven all-year round with concerns with comfort whether the roof is open or closed, keeping with the motto “four seasons, four personalities”.
One of the main features of the E-Class Cabriolet is its engines. In fact, the new direct-injection diesel and petrol engines offer more power combining it with more efficiency. Besides the engines, on-demand activation of the steering and fuel pumps, the use of tyres with low rolling resistance, an alternator control system which takes account of the current driving situation and the vehicle's electrical power requirements, and the car’s aerodynamics played an important role in producing a low fuel consumption vehicle.
The new cabrio is equipped with the AIRSCARF® technology, a neck-level heating system to further enhance comfort in open-top models, but also presents a world-first: the AIRCAP®. This is an automatic draught-stop, activated by pushing a button, which reduces turbulence and noise level in the interior of the new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet.
In terms of safety highlights, the open-top two-door model includes roll-over protection, the A-pillars reinforced by two additional tubes and the plug-in B‑pillars. Headbags are for the first time featuring in a Mercedes cabriolet.
