Developed with the help of Renault Sport Technologies, the French brand is launching on the market two new sporting versions of the New Mégane: the GT and GT Line. The two lines will be available from June and will be available in all body types that are part of the Mégane family: Hatchback, Coupé, Estate and Coupé-Cabriolet.
Besides the distinctive style these new versions offer increased performance to the Mégane and close the gap between the mainstream model and the allout performance credentials of Mégane R.S.
Featuring a specific chassis and being powered by the Mégane’s core-range of economical and ecological engines the GT Line is a Sport Pack which is available as an option on Mégane Dynamique equipment level versions.
As for the GT version it combines sporty exterior and interior details with a specifically-tuned chassis which is inspirited on the Mégane R.S. The 2.0 TCe180 and 2.0 dCi 160 engines will power Mégane’s GT version.
Both the GT ant GT Line feature a bumper that has received a reshaped central air intake incorporating a gloss black centre section that supports the registration plate. The foglamps are housed in profiled, Dark Metal-coloured recesses on either side of the bumper. At the rear end the body colour lower section of the rear bumper incorporates an aerodynamic diffuser.
Many details incorporated in the GT Line and the GT versions are shared with the Mégane R.S. For example the front seats with additional lateral support on the seat back and cushion, the aluminium-faced pedal set and the dashboard which incorporates analogue rev-counter.
There are also specific details on each version. The Mégane GT Line will have a 'GT Line' badging on the grille and tailgate and will be fitted with Dark Metalcoloured 17-inch Celsium wheels. The door mirror housings are finished with a Dark Metal color and in the interior the 'GT Line' badging can also be seen on the dashboard trim strip, head rests and front door sills.
As for the GT versions they will also be 'GT' badged on the grille and 'GT Renault Sport' badged on the tailgate. They will be fitted with 18-inch Dark Metal-coloured Jetow aluminium wheels. The ‘GT’ badge will also feature inside on the dashboard trim strip and front head rests. The ‘Renault Sport’ branding will appear on the door sills.
The GT and GT Line versions will be powered by different engine ranges. While the Mégane GT Line will be available with the engines that feature on the mainstream Mégane, the GT version will be powered by the Mégane range's more potent, more exclusive powerplants for increased performance.
Customers looking to combine affordable, fuel-efficient performance will be suited with the Mégane GT Line variety of engines. This version will have an available range of four petrol and six diesel engines, with the majority being Euro5 compliant and qualifying for Renault eco²-criteria.
In the GT version customers will be able to choose between two turbocharged engines: the petrol TCe 180 or the diesel dCi 160.
