Hyundai will have a new generation of the Azera in the US next year with a new 3.3 liter V6 and in-house developed six-speed transmission. It also gets a ton of standard luxury features like leather, navigation and HID headlights.
The new Azera uses Hyundai's current Fluidic Sculpture design language that uses a lot of curves over the hood and sides that can look a little busy, especially for a car that is marketed as upscale.
The interior is very luxurious with standard leather and lots of room: 45in of legroom and 40in of headroom in the front more than the Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon, Buick LaCrosse and Ford Taurus. It has LED accent lighting in the door panels, and the lines all blend into the center of the radio stack. It has a standard dimming rearview mirror and standard 10-way power seats for the driver. The front and rear seats are heated as standard, as is dual-zone climate control and 7in LCD screen with navigation. Ventilated front seats are also an option.
It is powered by a 3.3 liter, direct-injected V6 with 293hp and 20mpg city and 29mpg on the highway, which is better than the Nissan Maxima, Ford Taurus, Lexus ES350 and Buick LaCrosse V6. The six-speed automatic was created in-house by Hyundai, and the car is front-wheel drive.
The Azera also comes with an alphabet's worth of acronyms as standard including traction control, electronic brake force distribution, active and selectable dampers
