Renault Launches Scala in India; 5th Car in 18 Months

has launched its fifth new car to the Indian market in 18 months. The Scala is a four-door near-luxury sedan that will be built in India. Renault describes the Scala as a "premium small sedan".

The Scala has two engines available. There is a 1.5 dCi K9K engine with 84hp and a petrol 1.5-liter engine with 98hp. 

The Scala has a chrome radiator grill and door handles, 15-inch sporty alloy wheels, and a dual-tone rear bumper. Like many of its Indian cars, the Scala has separate front and rear air conditioning systems. It also has leather upholstery and two cup holders in the rear. These are features that are still considered novel in small cars in India. It also has folding exterior mirrors, Smart Key, start button, fog lights, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and two air bags. 

The Scala goes on sale in India on September 7. 

“With the launch of Scala, Renault India has fulfilled its promise to launch 5 products in less than 18 months and to open a pan India network of 100 dealerships by the end of 2012,” said Marc Nassif, Managing Director of Renault India.
