Renault has today unveiled a new concept car: the Captur. This new vehicle follows the same design identity and concept created the DeZir coupé. Instead of expressing passion, the Renault Captur is supposed to transmit the idea of two people exploring the world in it.
“Captur is a fun and sporty crossover, ideal for a young couple about to discover the world” explains director of design, Laurens Van den Acker.
“It takes as its basis the fundamental design language introduced on the DeZir concept car but adds a more technical dimension – more functional but still highly sensuous," adds Axel Breun, director of concept cars.
Although looking very light and having fluid curves, the Captur still has in it the powerful and muscular all-terrain cues. Inspired by athletes and radical sports, exterior designer Julio Lozano gave Captur, just like the Dezir, the natural and sensuous forms.
The new concept car from Renault has received from the Dezir its front fascia, with the large Renault logo as a centerpiece and standing out as it was put against a dark surface.
The Captur is also a practical and versatile vehicle that can be adaptable for different occasions. Thanks to a hard convertible top, the Captur can be transformed from a coupé to a convertible, from an urban vehicle to an off-roader. The concept car had its sporty appeal enhanced with butterfly doors and big tyres fitted to 22-inch black and white rims.
Power to the Renault Captur is given by Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine-concept. Producing 160 hp of power from a capacity of 1.6 litres, it features a peak torque of 380 Nm, which is available at 1,750rpm. Combined with a dual clutch EDC gearbox the Captur produces 99 g of CO2 per kilometer.
