The Algerian government will also fund the building of suppliers that will provide parts to the new factory, but most of the early cars will be made from imported parts.

“It is a pleasure and an honor to be playing a part in the signing of this agreement which aims to develop Algeria’s automobile industry. Renault is proud to be the first carmaker to establish production facilities in Algeria. It is also proud to be contributing to the automobile industry’s development in the country,” said Jean-Christophe Kugler, Renault chief operating officer for the Euromed-Africa region.
