has begun construction of its new factory in Oued-Tlelat, Algeria, and is scheduled to open in November 2014 with an initial capacity of 25,000 cars a year. The factory will supply the Renault Symbol to the Algerian market.

The factory will employ 350 people who have already been selected by Algeria’s national employment agency. Their training will begin soon.

The plan is that the factory will use local suppliers and sub-contractors for components. The supplier base in Algeria is still quite young and is still being built. Renault will be working with them to create the base.

"We are proud, within the Renault Algérie Production joint-venture, to be contributing to the development of the automotive industry in Algeria through this project. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our team and our partners for their efforts and commitment in making this launch a success," said Bernard Sonilhac, CEO Renault Algérie Production.
