The silhouette of the new Volkswagen Beetle, set to launch in 2011 has been presented on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” as part of Oprah’s “Ultimate Favourite Things” giveaway. Oprah went on to shock everyone in her audience by giving each of them a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.
Twelve years after its comeback the all-new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will be a reinvention of the automotive icon. The 2012 Beetle has been completely redesigned by the same team of engineers and designers responsible for the works on the GTI and CC.
As an owner and fan of a New Beetle, Oprah went to Volkswagen asking the brand’s help to recognize the time, talents and contributions of select viewers by giving them one of her favorite things, a Volkswagen Beetle. The reveal of the silhouette is the kick off for the next chapter of Beetle’s long history. Volkswagen will be donating two hundred seventy-five 2012 Beetles plus applicable taxes and fees, to each member of the studio audience.
“Oprah Winfrey and the Volkswagen Beetle are two American icons, so when the “Oprah” show approached us with this incredible opportunity to share her Beetle experience with deserving viewers, we instantly wanted to be a part of it,” said Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America. “Our all-new 2012 Beetle exemplifies power, styling and sophistication, and is an automotive icon reinvented to create the new shape of performance.”
From the silhouette shown on Oprah’s Show we can see that the new Beetle will be featuring a sportier, more aggressive stance, and will feature sleeker styling. VW announced that it will arrive with a wealth of new technologies that should provide a heightened driving experience.
The 2012 VW Beetle will be customizable, with options that will offer the performance, styling, accessories and features that are expected to appeal customers, from the driving enthusiast to the driver motivated by value, excellent fuel economy and nostalgia.
Set to be revealed in the spring of 2011 the restyled Beetle should arrive to the showrooms next fall.
