The Ford B-Max Getting a Geneva Debut

The Ford B-Max Getting a Geneva Debut

The Geneva Motor Show does not begin until March 8, but we are already getting a trickle of information about the new cars premiering at the Swiss show. Among them will be the new Ford B-Max, which will go on sale in Europe later this year.

Ford is keeping mum on most of the facts about the new car. Ford President Alan Mulally will be at the press conference to present the car.

Ford is keeping details sketchy for the moment, but we can confirm that the B-Max will use Ford'd new 1.0 liter Ecoboost engine as an engine option. Ford is making two tunes of the the 1.0 Ecoboost: 125ps and 100ps. It is still unknown which version the car will get. The B-Max will also use Ford's Duratorq TDCi diesels.

“The B-MAX combines an exciting, innovative design with features that only previously have been found in bigger cars. It’s a brand new car that responds to the needs of an increasing number of customers who want much more from their small cars,” said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe.

Ford has engineered the B-Max to be a utilitarian vehicle for urban areas. The doors open wide to allow easy access and the interior counts with a large cargo area. To do this, Ford has built the B-pillar into the doors.

There was a 'concept' at the Brussels auto show, pretty near to the final version.
