production will be shifted to Bursa, Turkey. The next generation Clio will also be built in Flins, France. So far, Renault has refused to deny or acknowledge the union's claims. It says that the production split has not yet been determined.

According to Reuters, members of the union were at a presentation where they were told that less than 30% of next generation Clio production would take place in France.

"We will use Bursa to mainly export cars to Russia and to the Euromed region and also to western Europe. Flins will serve mostly western Europe," said Ali Kassai, Renault's head of subcompact cars during the Paris Motor Show.

The first steps for this announcement were laid in February when Renault COO Carlos Tavares told the French Senate that a car built in Turkey would cost €1,300 less than in France on average.

The French state owns 15% of Renault and holds major sway over decisions made by the company. French Renault factories built 42% of the Renault's sold in Europe last year. For major rival PSAPeugeotPeugeotFrance, 1882 > present120 models
