Sebastien Vettel has returned to victories in Brazil, the German dominated from start to finish the action in Interlagos. Red Bull made the fourth one-two finish of the season clinching the manufacturers' world title.
As we head to the conclusion of the 2011 Formula One season the title contention has been reduced to three drivers: Alonso, Webber and Vettel. The Spaniard still leads the championship with an eight point lead over Mark Webber and has a sixteen point gap over Vettel. Alonso still has the advantage and will only need a third place to secure his third career title (if the same positions would be repeated in Abu Dhabi). If Webber wins the race second place will be enough.
The moment of fame had a short living for Hulkenberg. After clinching pole position on Saturday, the German lost the lead in the first corner and three corners ahead went down to third behind Webber.
His fight would continue over the next six laps this time with Fernando Alonso. Hulkenberg managed to hold the Spaniard thanks to some skilled defensive driving, but the difference in paces of the cars would make the difference.
Next in line was Lewis Hamilton. Hulkenberg once again fought bravely his position and was able to hold the Brit for eight laps, but then the Williams car drove into the pitstop for tyre change.
At that time the Red Bulls had already managed to make a considerably safe advantadge over the Alonso and Hamilton, until Vitantonio Liuzzi's accident forced the Safety Car entrance.Vettel had retained a lead of between two and four seconds over his team-mate over the whole race.
When the action resumed Robert Kubica was between Vettel and Webber so the German took this to his advantage and grew a lead over the Aussie. He then managed this advantage until the end of the race.
Webber only had to worry with Alonso at the end of the race. After the safety car got back to box Alonso was sharing fastest laps with the Red Bull drivers. Still he couldn't get closer enough from Webber and had to settle for third place.
Hamilton also benefited from the safety car entrance and ended the race with Alonso in sights. He finished fourth having complained througout the race of poor grip.
In the closing stages Button also made company to his team-mate having climbed up the order thanks to another good stop strategy. The Brit was the first to change tyres and thanks to this option overtook the two Mercedes, Hulkenberg and Kubica when they made their stops. He ended up in fifth position.
The two Mercedes of Rosberg and Michael Schumacher finished sixth and seventh respectively and were followed by Hulkenberg and Kubica.
Closing the top ten was Kamui Kobayashi who fought this position with Jaime Alguersuari, Adrian Sutil, Sebastien Buemi and Rubens Barrichello, throughout the race.
