is at least considering a sport version of the XL1 super efficient car have been swirling for a few months, but Volkswagen Supervisory Board Chairman Ferdinand Piech has confirmed them by showing a rendering of the car to students at Technical University of Vienna where he is an honorary professor.
According to Piech, the sporty XL1, codenamed XL Sport, would take the 1.2-liter V-twin from the Ducati 1199 Panigale with 190ps (187hp) and 91lb-ft (123.7Nm) of torque, which is slightly less than the 195hp and 98lb-ft (132 Nm) in the motorcycle, and a dual-clutch transmission from the Volkswagen parts bank. The chassis would remain basically the same and weigh 795kg (1,753lb).
Piech was clear that the car is just for research and development at the moment and has no plans to go into production at the moment.
