Volkswagen Group Delivers 816,500 Cars in May, up 6.9%

It is still struggling in Europe, but Asia has become a major market

Group performed well in May with 816,500 cars sold, up 6.9%. From January to May of this year, it has delivered 3.87 million cars, up 5.9% from the same period last year. Western Europe remains the most uncertain market

“Development of Group brands is stable. Markets worldwide remain difficult and uneven," said Group Board Member for Sales Christian Klingler.

Volkswagen Group has delivered 1.53 million cars in Europe from January to May, down 3.5%. 

It delivered 360,000 cars to North America from January to May, up 13%. Of those 249,300 went to the United States, up 11.2%. 

South American sales fell 0.4% for Volkswagen Group from January to May to 375,400 cars, but of those 276,300 went to Brazil, up 1.2%. 

In Asia, Volkswagen Group delivered 1.43 million cars from January to May, up 16.4%. Of those, 1.28 million went to China, up 18.2%.

has delivered 149,100 cars in the period, up 11%. It beat the general trend and also had improved sales in Germany. 

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has delivered 219,900 cars in the period, down 0.3%. The brand is doing especially well in South America where sales are up 10.9% in the period.
