super efficient car and is planning to launch it in mid-2013. It appears that it will still be sold in very limited numbers. Although, we will have to wait to see if that is as limited as 50 units for the entire year that had been previously rumored.

but channel that energy toward efficiency.
The car is using an 800cc diesel, two-cylinder engine with 47hp and an electric motor with 27hp with a seven-speed DSG. The car makes extensive use of carbon fiber to weigh 1753lbs (795kg). It lacks even side view mirrors and instead there are rear-facing cameras with screens inside the car. In the spy shots we have seen, Volkswagen has been experimenting with how large the exterior camera covers need to be. They have grown and shrunk over the course of testing. The coefficient of drag is 0.186. It is projected to use 261mpg (0.9l/100km) and emit 24g/km of CO2.
Volkswagen has shown concepts for ultra-efficient car concepts for the last decade. The concept for the XL1 premiered in 2011 at the Qatar Motor Show.
