Not only did BMW drop the bomb shell that it is making a quartet of tri-turbo diesel, sub-M performance models, it also plans to refresh the X6 for 2012.
BMW has revised the front of the X6 by subtly changing the front bumper and headlights. Adaptive LED headlights are now an option but standard on the X6 M. The rear gets a similar treatment as the standard tail lights are now also LED units. 19in wheels are standard. BMW is also offering an optional hood that includes a bulge to hint at a powerful engine underneath.
As discussed in our other post, the new engine option in the X6 is the M Performance X6 M50d with a 3.0 liter tri-turbo, inline six-cylinder engine with 381hp and 546lb-ft of torque. It accelerates to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds and uses 7.7l/100km of diesel. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Adaptive drive, which is a roll stabilization program, comes standard on the X6 M and X6 M50d.
The revised X6 will be available later this year.
