Canadian design duo DSQUARED2 have created a customised MINI Cooper S for the 2011 Life Ball event in Vienna.
The Life Ball is Europe’s biggest HIV/AIDS charity event which MINI has supported for the past eleven years by creating a special one-off model - the proceeds of which go towards combating HIV/AIDS. This year, DSQUARED2 join an impressive list of previous designers who have included Agent Provocateur, Donatella Versace, Diesel, Missoni and Gianfranco Ferré obliged.
Their interpretation, which has been named ‘Red Mudder’, is a refashioned Cooper S that is ‘armed for adventures of all kinds’. This is evident through the added front guard, rally headlamps, window tinting and grilles, and spare tyre. The MINI’s chassis has also been raised, and the addition of deep-tread all-terrain tyres hints at off-road potential.
On the inside a compass has been fitted along with floor mats made of structured aluminium sheeting and the DSQUARED2 maple leaf on the head restraints and side doors.
MINI have generated over half a million Euros since 2001 through their Life Ball models. Founder and organiser of the Life Ball, Gery Keszler, is thankful for the manufacturers support.
“MINI has been a partner of the Life Ball for 11 years and each year it demonstrates anew its creativity, enthusiasm and passion for this good cause. This year’s Life Ball MINI designed by DSQUARED2 provides further persuasive evidence of this,” he said.
