Bentley release Ice Speed Record Continental

Bentley has released its most powerful model ever in celebration of Finnish rally champion Juha Kankkunen’s shattering of the world ice speed record in a convertible Continental Supersports.

Limited to just 100 vehicles, the Continental Supersports Convertible ISR (Ice Speed Record) features a 6 litre, twin-turbo W12 which pumps out 631 bhp and a massive 800 Nm of torque. Combined with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, this leads to some impressive figures; 0-100 km/h takes four seconds, while 80-120 km/h is reached in just 2.5 seconds. The special edition also keeps with the FlexFuel motif of the Continental range allowing it to run on either petrol, E85 bio-ethanol, or any combination of the two. 420mm carbon ceramic brakes discs provide stopping power for the big Bentley.

The ISR also features more extravagant and muscular styling. Three choices of paint are selectable; Beluga, Quartzite and Arctica White, while a Dark Grey Metallic soft top keeps the rain out. Customers can also opt for a Mulliner design package at no extra cost which adds red paint to the 20 inch, 10 spoke wheels and bonnet vents as well as Supersports ISR graphics down the side of the car.

The interior gets some upgrades as well with red weaves on the high-gloss carbon fibre on the dashboard, centre console and roof panel. Pillar Box Red stitching features on the seats, door casings, steering wheel and gearshift paddles, while a new driver information panel is located in the main instrument cluster.

Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Wolfgang Duerheimer, said of the car: “Juha Kankkunen’s drive was a remarkable achievement and worthy of a very special car. The Continental Supersports ‘Ice Speed Record’ is a true driver’s car that captures that unique Bentley spirit. It offers extreme performance, agility and an extrovert personality, while retaining the refinement, handcrafted luxury and comfort our customers expect.”

The Supersports Continental Convertible ISR can be ordered now at Bentley dealerships for £189,300.

I'm very surprised. not at the record, but the fact that the car didn't break the ice.

Am I the only one that thinks the styling is wildly out place for a Bentley?

No, I agree. It looks like one of those Japanese tuners.
