is putting its collection of art cars on display throughout the UK starting in London on July 21 to August 4. The exhibition will include 16 cars on six floors of the NCP Car Park on Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch. Admission is free.
The first BMW art car was designed by Alexander Calder when his friend driver Hervé Poulain asked him paint his car. The car raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1975.
David Hockney, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Roy LIchtenstein, Jeff Koons and many more artisits have worked on the BMW art cars.
The exhibition was organized by Institute of Contemporary Art in London, the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the Mayor of London. It is part of the London 2012 Festival, which is a 12 week art festival running in London through September 9.
