BMW is launching another exclusive product for the Chinese market. This time the German brand is offering a long wheel base version of its second-generation X1, a vehicle which was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show.
Compared to the 4560mm long X1, the X1 Li has been stretched a further 79mm, which makes it just 100mm shorter than the
current X3. Concentrated within the wheelbase, the increased length has provided the X1 Li with a longer rear door and improved rear seat legroom. The boot capacity remains the same at 505 litres.
The X1 Li will be available with two petrol engine options. The
X1 sDrive18Li will be powered by a 1.5l three cylinder unit with 136hp and a 192hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit will be powering the
X1 sDrive20Li. The same engine will power the four-wheel drive
X1 xDrive25Li which has a 231hp.
The popularity of the X1 motivated BMW to offer a new different wheelbase variant of the compact SUV, similar to the move taken with the
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
The production of the BMW X1 Li will take place at a joint venture factory from BMW and its' Chinese partner
Brilliance in Tiexi.
