has barely began selling the i3i3BMW i3Germany, 2014 > present and is already planning its next i sub-brand car. It is planning a stretched version of the i3 that would be able to more easily carry a family.

The current i3 seats four, but the rear seats are accessed via reverse-hinged doors. A longer wheelbase would allow for a true four-door with more room in the rear and more cargo space.

The larger i car is rumored to be called the i5. It will be relatively inexpensive to create because BMW can simply extend the car’s aluminum platform without having to make major changes to the suspension or packaging. The composite body panels are similarly easy to extend. Even with the relative ease, it will still take BMW at least two years to develop the new car, and it will be slightly longer than that before it can go on sale.

BMW has made it no secret that it plans a whole model range for the i sub-brand. It has trademarked the names from i1 to i9 for possible future models.
