. The German brand has anticipated the release of the new model that includes several design changes, but above all a range of updated and more frugal engines.

The main changes in the X3 can be found in the engines. The model has been updated with the latest generation of diesel engines that combine more power and lower fuel consumption. The new X3 will be able to be combined with a manual six-speed or eight-speed automatic, depending on the engine. All engines meet the EU6 standard for CO2 emissions.

New diesel engines

The new BMW X3 will be available at launch with a choice of four diesel and three petrol with outputs ranging from 150hp and 313hp.

The new X3 xDrive20d debuts the new 2.0 turbo engine with 190hp. With a consumption of 5.0l/100km and 131g/km CO2 (with low resistance tires) this is one of the most economical versions of the new model range. This version is only exceeded by the X3 sDrive18d with 150hp that has a combined fuel consumption of 4.7l/100km and produces 124g/km of CO2 (with low resistance tires).

The X3 xDrive30d is powered by the 258hp 3.0 turbo six-cylinder engine and has an announced 5.9l/100km consumption and CO2 emissions of 156g/km, only available with an automatic transmission.

The top-version xDrive35d uses the same engine but with 313hp and takes the X3 to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds, and a maximum speed of 245km/h. According to the German brand this version has an average fuel consumption of 5.9l/100km and produces 157g/km of CO2.

Exterior and interior changes

The new X3 gets a new design with sleeker headlights, a new frame of the kidney grille and revamped front and bumpers, giving the model a more similar look to the X5X5 Gen.3BMW X5 Gen.3Germany, 2014 > present12 versions

. Except for the increased length of 1mm (4657mm), the dimensions of X3 remained unchanged, as well as its boot capacity.

Inside a few minor changes as more chrome trim, a new center console, new cupholders and a steering wheel in leather have been made. New options of exterior colors, upholstery design, interior trim and wheels will also be available.

The X3 receives a number of new driver assistance and infotainment features, including a navigation system with a touchpad integrated into the iDrive controller. Other highlights include automatic parking assistant, a HUD display and headlight high-beam assist.

The BMW X3 is currently one of the best selling models of the German brand range . In 2013 157.298 units were sold worldwide, representing an increase of 5% compared to 2012. The model will reach the market in June.
