The Mazda6 is entering a new phase of the Zoom-Zoom evolution program. The vehicle from the CD-segment has received a facelift and his soon arriving to the European market. A new sportier front fascia has been developed with the new model having its strong features enhanced with improved safety and environmental performance.

Since its launch the current Mazda6 was a success selling a total of 293,000 units worldwide, almost half of them in Europe (141,000). In 25 months the Mazda model received media and industry awards.

“We saw this second phase of the Mazda6’s Zoom-Zoom evolution as an opportunity to build on the current model’s competitiveness and brand appeal, and to move the Mazda6 even closer to Mazda’s CD-car ideal”, said Minoru Takata, Mazda6 Programme Manager

In terms of its exterior design the Mazda6 has received newly-designed headlamps and an upper grille with a new winged Mazda logo that is black on all grades and body-coloured on the Sports Grade. The lines running p from the grille between the fenders and the bonnet is also a new feature of the Mazda6.

The changes continue in the back where the rear combination lamps that have new chrome-plated winged decorations, which make the lamps look wider and seem to low even further into the side panels. New 17- and 18-inch aluminium wheel designs are also part of the facelifted Mazda6.

Mazda6 customers will be able to choose from a range of three petrol and three diesel powertrains. In the petrol range the new MZR 2.0 DISI petrol will have its world debut. This more fuel-efficient, livelier and faster engine will be replacing the mid-sized petrol engine of the original model. Featuring high-revving direct-injection this powertrain delivers an output of 155 PS at 6,200 rpm and 193 of torque at 4,500 rpm. The new engine can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a new five-speed Activematic automatic gearbox with manual shift mode. The petrol range is completed with the MZR 2.5 and the MZR 1.8 engines.

The diesel range will include three derivatives of Mazda’s MZR-CD 2.2 turbo-diesel engine. They are all Euro V compliant and built with reduced thermal capacity exhaust manifolds and joint pipes, allowing for quicker cold-start heat up of the catalyst and lower overall CO 2 emissions.

The Mazda6 will be available in three different body types: hatchback, sedan and estate.
