chassis.
Fiat will offer the Viaggio with two tunes of its 1.4T engine with either 120hp or 150hp. Transmission options are either a five-speed manual or a Fiat's new dual clutch transmission.
The Viaggio was designed in Torino, but it appears that most of the design work happened to the front. It gave the car a Fiat face, but from the sides and even the rear, the car looks very similar to the Dart.
Fiat plans to have the Viaggio be the first car produced in its new factory in Changsa, Hunan province, China. Production will start in July, and the first cars will be delivered in the thrid quarter of 2012.
It appears that Fiat is really marketing this car to the Chinese market, and that Europe is an afterthought. Will European consumers want to be a car that is so similar to an Alfa Romeo that they could already get. However, Fiat claims that the C-segment is the largest in China, and the Viaggio hits all the benchmarks for what Chinese buyers are looking for.
