Genk, Belgian, factory. Ford has announced an emergency meeting with its unions that will take place on Wednesday, October 24. The speculation is that Ford may announce the plant's closure.
Ford did not tell the union what the meeting would be about and declined our request for a comment.
It appears that Ford may be planning on building the new Mondeo elsewhere. With no replacements for the Galaxy or S-Max planned, the Genk factory would close sometime next year. All of this would end some of Ford's overcapacity in Europe. The Genk factory was already running at 68% capacity.
