has given a grand opening to its new design center that will be responsible for creating prototype and preproduction vehicles. It is the first multi-story building in Italy to receive a Class A energy certification.
The building was designed with Prospazio engineering to be the first industrial building in Italy to use less than 8 Kwh/m³. The walls are made triple-layer polycarbonate and ventilated walls covered with black, ceramic cladding for thermal insulation. Lamborghini will be adding solar cells that will meet all of the building's electric needs. The building is also earthquake resistant.
The second floor has a small assembly line that completes all of the steps Lamborghini usually does on its full line. It will be used for finding efficient ways of building new models. Lamborghini is also supporting the Emilia-Romagna region where it is headquartered by donating to earthquake relief. It has given money to rebuild five schools in the region and will donate next year to rebuild cultural sites and places of worship.
“Inaugurating a sustainable, anti-seismic industrial building here today at Lamborghini, in the heart of the area struck by the earthquake, sends an important signal. It expresses the strong, determined desire to move forward that is evident in the Emilia area," said Corrado Clini, Italian Minister of Environment, Land and Sea.
