hypercar. McLaren ensures that it is the car developed by McLaren Special Operations with most track features and the most powerful ever produced. By not needing to meet certain requirements to be driven in the roads, the P1 GTR allows enhanced optimization of the aerodynamic capabilities of the P1. The output of the twin-turbocharged 3.8 V8 engine and the electric motor was increased to 1000PS, 90PS more than the road version.
The aerodynamic package of the P1 GTR is even more extensive than the road-legal P1, with the most notable element being the fixed rear wing which is positioned 400mm above the body. The wing works in conjunction with the aerodynamic flaps ahead of the front wheels. In total the package produces 10% more downforce than the road version. The P1 GTR maintains the same DRS system (Drag Reduction System) of the P1.
Thanks to the use of lighter components such as polycarbonate side windows, carbon fiber panels on the roof and in the engine bay, McLaren succeeded to reduce weight of the P1 GTR by 50kg compared to the road version.
