has just revealed a car the brand believes to be "the best driver's car in the world on track". The presentation of the prototype of the new P1GTRP1 GTR ConceptMcLaren P1 GTR ConceptUnited Kingdom, 2015 > 2015 took place this weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where it was one of the main attractions.

Still the new race car should only hit the track within a year, since its production will start only after all units of the P1P1McLaren P1United Kingdom, 2013 > present26 photos
have been built. McLaren hasn't established a limit of units to be produced, however the brand believes it will be able to sell 25 to 30 units to P1 owners. Each car will cost around €2.47 million.

So far McLaren hasn't revealed any performance data on the P1 GTR. The launch of the new GTR coincides with the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the initial tests of the successful and Le Mans-winning, F1 GTRF1 GTRMcLaren F1 GTRUnited Kingdom, 1995 > present5 photos

The P1 GTR is based on the P1 hypercar. Mclaren ensures that the  is the most “track-tailored” and powerful model yet produced by its in-house McLaren Special Operations division to date. By not needing to meet certain requirements to drive on the road, the P1 GTR allows enhanced optimization of the aerodynamic capabilities of the P1. The power of the twin-turbo 3.8 V8 engine and the electric motor has been increased up to 1000hp, 90hp more than the road version.

In comparison to the P1, the GTR version received a number of modifications that include an 80mm wider front axle, redesigned radiator air inlets and a new front splitter.

Also the suspension now has a fixed ground distance, similar to what happens with the rear wing, larger, although with no possibility to change the downforce. The wing is now also equipped with a DRS system.
