as the medical car.
Bernd Mayländer will be driving the safety car for this 13th season. Before that he raced in the DTM and was an instructor for the AMG Driving Academy.
The SLS AMG GT safety car returns from last season and is still mechanically unmodified from the street version. It gets a rear-facing camera for Mayländer to see the cars behind him, a roof light kit and extra lights on the rear. Beyond those changes, it is a stock SLS AMG GT.
The C63 AMG Estate also returns this season as the medical car. Like the safety car, it is mechanically unmodified, but it gets a light bar, extra illumination and cameras. Alan van de Merwe drives the medical car, and Dr. Ian Roberts is on board to attend to injuries. There are two more medical personnel in the rear. All of the passengers get six-point racing harnesses. The car carries a defibrillator, respiration apparatus and other medical supplies.
