Mercedes and its luxury arm Maybach have joined forces to create an high-end luxurious version of the G-Class. The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Laundalet, set to debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show will be swan song of the current G-Class generation and will be on sale at the end of 2017.
Described as the most expensive
G-Class model yet, the
Mercedes-Maybach G650 Laundalet will have a limited production of 99 units. They will be all built at Magna Steyr’s manufacturing facility in Graz, Austria. Although price is yet to be announced it will certainlty cost more than the €480,000 from the G63 6x6, back in 2014.
Maybach G650 Laundalet dimensions and design
The
G650 Laundalet is based on the long-wheelbase
G-Class but it also features the widened body, modified running gear and portal axle chassis from the G63 6x6. It is 5345mm long, 2110mm wide and 2335mm high. Wheelbase is set at 3428mm.
In order to help passengers climb to the cabin of the
G650 Laundalet there is a unning board, which hinges from underneath the doors. The new
Maybach family member offers room for four passengers and rear seats feature the
S-Class electronically adjustable individual seat system. This provides more legroom if needed.
Driver and front seat passenger are always seaten under a hardtop roof, while rear seat passengers have the opportunity to travel with the top down. By simply pressing a button a fabric roof retracts back automatically.
Keeping faithful to its limousine roots the
G650 Laundalett also includes an lectrically operated glass partition, which splits the cabin in two. This glass can be changed from transparent to opaque. The limousine-styled SUV has also been fitted with retractable tables integrated in the rear middle console and two 10.0-inch monitors featuring the infotainment system.

Mercedes has fitted the new Maybach
G650 Laundalet with the same 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbocharged petrol engine featured in the G65. It has a total output of 630hp and 1000Nm of torque. Power is sent to the four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Mercedes hasn't revealed performance data about the
G650 Laundalet but announced that the high-end luxurious SUV will have a fuel consumption of 17.0 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 397g/km.
