Months before the car will even go on sale, Mini has decided give its new Mini Coupe the ultimate test by entering it into the grueling 24 hours of the Nurburgring.
The Mini John Cooper Works Coupe Endurance is powered by a tuned version of the turbo-charged 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine found in the JCW Mini Coupe road car. In racing trim it makes about 250hp according to BMW.
The car retains the basic suspension layout as the street-legal Mini, but replaces the shocks with adjustable units from KW and adds an adjustable front strut brace. The anti-lock brakes have been modified with the Race ABS system from the Mini Challenge race car.
The Mini Coupe qualified 95th overall.
