Renault is celebrating its third year of Rugby involvement by launching special “XV de France” versions of the Clio and Mégane in support of the French rugby team.
15,500 “XV de France” vehicles will be produced by Renault to be sold throughout 2011, marking an upgrade from the previous “limited editions” to full-fledged “versions” across the Mégane estate, hatch and coupé range, and the Clio three-door, five-door and estate range.Renault began a French nationwide television and internet advertising campaign on February 5 for the first French match in the Six Nations Championship, and will continue to year-round until the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
Explaining the decision to become involved in Rugby, Renault’s head of marketing & communicationsGuillaume Josselin said “Renault sees rugby as a valuable territory of expression, complementary to that afforded by motor sports. Our involvement in rugby, exemplified by the new “XV de France” versions, nourishes customer relations and provides inspiration for our dealer network of 5,000 outlets.”
The newest “XV de France” vehicles differ from previous editions by boasting a unique Marron Glacé body that sports the French Rugby Federation’s coat of arms. Other unique features are special aluminium wheels and a chic “club” interior with special dashboard and upholstery.
Both the Clio and Mégane “XV de France” editions are currently on sale.
