Nissan has released a special version of its 370Z sports car in celebration of the company’s success in International GT motor sport called the 370Z GT Edition.
The GT Edition’s main feature is a revised suspension set-up developed by the Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) for improved performance on Europe’s best and worst roads. It includes recalibrated rebound and compression ratio settings for the dampers on the front double wishbones and rear multi-link for better ride comfort and handling, with a stiffer chassis allowing damping force to be increased at no cost to ride comfort. The tyres have also been tweaked to work closer to optimum for improved track performance.
These improvements will also filter down to the standard 370Z Coupé.
Setting the GT Edition apart visually are grey ‘GT’ stripes along the vehicle’s flanks, along with a choice of three body colours; metallic black, pearl white and Black Rose. It will sit on 19inch RAYS forged alloy wheels finished in anthracite. A rear view parking camera and tyre pressure monitoring system have also been added to the standard equipment list.
The GT Edition’s gearbox also receives an extra feature in the form of a snow mode which launches the car in second gear and controls the revs to prevent wheel spin on ice and snow. Extra under-body insulation is also added to reduce road noise. Despite all of these extra goodies, Nissan say the GT Edition will actually cost less than the standard Coupé.
Pierre Loing, Vice President Product Planning, Nissan International SA, said: “The 370Z is an iconic sports car and the GT Edition underlines its appeal to enthusiasts everywhere, thanks to combination of outstanding performance, dramatic looks and a chassis specifically tuned for Europe."
