Renault has officially announced that the team will be introducing the F-duct system in its car at next week’s Belgian Grand Prix, at Spa Francorchamps. According to Autosport the team has achieved its development targets with the concept.
For the last several months Renault has been working on the technological system and stated in July that was hoping to have it ready for Spa and Monza, high-speed circuits where the system should provide good advantage.
With work interrupted due to the mandatory two-week summer factory shutdown the team will resume its efforts on Monday to secure that the F-duct will be ready for Spa. The decision was taken after positive feedback from the system in the wind-tunnel.
Seems like Renault will be heading to Belgium with a clear intention to race the F-duct at its first event instead of making an initial test on Friday’s practice. Of course the plans may change if the F-duct doesn’t produce the step forward on Renault’s car performance.
At the Hungarian Grand Prix Renault’s Robert Kubica said he was doubtless about the importance of the F-duct. And he is keen to say that “working properly” the system is the most important technical innovation of the 2010 F1 season.
